Terms, in plain words
MyKey is supplied by 2351485 ALBERTA INC. (the "Company"), Calgary, Alberta, Canada. This page is a summary. The full Product Terms ship with the app and are published with its source: full Product Terms · licensing notes. If this summary and the full text ever differ, the full text governs.
The key points
- Your environment is yours. You are responsible for the devices, networks, and systems you use the product on, and for keeping suitable backups. Harm that arises from exposing the product or its data to a malicious or unsafe system through your own action, inaction, or oversight is not the Company's liability.
- No absolute security guarantee. MyKey is designed with defined, limited capabilities. The Company does not warrant that the product is unbreakable or that it will prevent every compromise — including ransomware, viruses, a compromised device, or stolen credentials.
- Your decisions remain yours. MyKey is a tool. The Company is not liable for business or other decisions made in reliance on the product.
- Provided "as is". Except as stated in a separate written agreement, the product comes without warranties of any kind, to the maximum extent the law permits.
- Liability cap. The Company's total liability is limited to the amount you actually paid for the product or licence — and if you paid nothing, the cap is zero, except where the law prohibits that limit. Indirect and consequential damages are excluded to the maximum extent permitted.
- Consumer rights stand. Nothing in the terms removes a right that consumer-protection law says cannot be removed. If a clause is unenforceable, it is adjusted or severed and the rest stands.
- Calgary, Alberta. The terms are governed by the laws of Alberta and Canada. Any litigation must be brought exclusively in the courts in Calgary, Alberta; any mediation or arbitration is seated and conducted solely in Calgary, Alberta.
The licence, briefly
MyKey's core is proprietary to 2351485 ALBERTA INC. — all rights reserved, and no patent licence is granted for the core. The interface layer of the source is published under the Apache License 2.0, including its patent grant for that layer. Publishing the code for inspection is not, by itself, a licence to use the proprietary parts.
